Sneak a zucchini onto your neighbor’s porch tonight!

zucchini 2009I’ve just looked at the calendar, and yes, friends and family, it is August 8th and once again National Sneak A Zucchini onto Your Neighbor’s Porch night!
Does your garden have an abundance of zucchini?
Have your friends and co-workers stopped accepting offers of free produce?
Then under the cover of dusk & dark this evening, go sneak some surplus zucchini onto a neighbor’s porch and participate in a great August holiday!

I have some other recipes on the blog in previous posts, but the easiest way to cook them this month is to make Grilled Zucchini:

Wash medium to large zucchini. Slice lengthwise about 1/4″ thick. Brush on olive oil, sprinkle lightly with garlic powder and grill a few minutes on each side until tender. (you can do eggplant and yellow squash the same way,  and have a mice grilled medley of vegetables, although eggplant should be sliced a touch thicker and takes a little longer to cook.
