The farmer’s market actually opened last weekend, but I was out of town, so this was the first week I made it down this year. Found little round turnips to boil and season as a side dish, and beets in bunches of red and purple and white to roast.
Oh, strawberries!!! Strawberries to eat and to make strawberry ice cream. I love homemade strawberry ice cream! I have a small electric ice cream maker that you just pop into the freezer for 24 hours and then use to make ice cream. Yummy! A pint of strawberries, a cup of milk, 2 cups of cream, 3/4 cup of sugar and a little vanilla and you have wonderful home-made ice cream.
